Carnoustie & North East - Cruden Bay- 6395 yds - Par 70

In this wasteland, Cruden Bay makes an outstanding oasis. Owing to the club's popularity with visitors the club has recently rebuilt its entire clubhouse area. The view from the upstairs bar and restaurant is fabulous and the facilities are top class. Our experience at Cruden Bay was refreshingly different from the traditional and at times rather stuffy image of Scottish golf clubs.

Whilst the first three holes are not the most spectacular, the 4th must be the prettiest short hole in the country. Set beside a river, opening out into the sea, this can be a fearsome test playing 193 yards into the prevailing sea breeze, but whether or not your ball ends up on the green or out of bounds in the water, the view from the tee towards the fishing cottages and sea beyond will appeal to the everyone who witnesses it. In all, nine holes of the course either flank the sea directly or are separated from it by a single dune. Due to its age the course does have some blind shots, but they will not diminish the enormous fun you can find at Cruden Bay. It is probably the most spectacular unheralded course in Scotland!
